전시서문 : 건강한 예술 숲을 꿈꾸며

갤러리포레의 첫 전시로 〈고영운 한운성 2인전>을 마련했습니다. 두 작가는 한국 신형상 미술의 영역에서 독보적인 작품세계를 견인해 오고 계신 분들입니다. 1970년대 중반 이후에 시작된 한국 신형상 미술의 한 계보라 할 수 있는 극사실 회화를 대표하는 분들이기도 합니다. 두 작가의 작품에서 찾을 수 있는 공통분모는 하나의 사물을 이전의 정물화나 풍경화의 범주에서 독립시켜 오브제로 제시함으로써 새로운 의미를 부여하는 조형 방식에 있습니다. 배경이 없이 거대하게 확대되어 화면에 단일하게 자리잡은 달항아리나 꽃의 이미지는 그래서 보는 이들에게 실재와 환영사이를 오가는 흥미로운 시각 체험을 선사합니다.

Exhibition Foreword : Dreaming of a Thriving Art Forest

For its inaugural exhibition, 〈Gallery Forêt〉 has prepared a two-person show titled 〈Ko Young Hoon & Unsung Han Exhibition〉. These two artists have been driving distinctive artistic worlds of Korean Hyper-realistic painting that emerged in the mid-1970s. A common thread in their works lies in their artistic approach, which isolates some object from the categories of traditional still life or landscape painting, endowing them with new meaning. The images of objects like moon jars or flowers, singularly placed and magnified without a background, provide viewers with an intriguing visual exprience that oscillates between reality and illusion.
